Released this week, the fourth annual report tracks progress on 18 global goals, ranging from ending poverty to fighting inequalities. The report had always delivered good news on all fronts—until this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “In the blink of an eye,” write the authors of the report, “a health crisis became an economic crisis, a food crisis, a housing crisis, a political crisis.
